looking back, did you expect to write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected?
somehow three wips never got finished? or polished. i really dropped the ball? it's been a busy year with my dissertation work and research projects and somehow fic writing fell by the wayside. but you can expect three fics from me in january and february alone, i think
what’s your own favorite story of the year?
a study in scarlette! i've wanted to write a detective conan fic for forever, and a study in scarlette, the first in a trilogy of long novels, is my longest and most complicated work to date-- it's my first time writing a murder mystery, which, if you know me, you know is my favorite genre, and it's also me getting over my fear of writing plots instead of emotional-arcs. i love that story, and it was mostly worth the effort
did you take any writing risks this year?
well, i wrote my first au in an anime fandom, which... was tough, because i live in fear of deviating from anime canon, since part of why i enjoy anime is that a lot of them have super rich worlds. but it was time to play a little more.
do you have any fanfic or profit goals for the new year?
finish my baseball fic and basketball fic, and finally close the case on my holic fic and baeksoo bladerunner au.
best story of the year?
a study in scarlette, hands down.
most popular story of the year?
a study in scarlette, by far????? although there was a resurgence on to be first to be best which tripled its hitcount this year.
story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
well, i don't know about this. i didn't write much this year, and everything i worked on was a huge undertaking, so, with the lengthiness of all my projects, and that some were for exchanges or written on time-crunches, i think the people i wanted to enjoy them really did!
most fun story to write:
ahahaha, i'll update this after hq hols! <3
story with the single sexiest moment:
the blue silk panties scene in scarlette, by far.
most sweet story:
puppy love!
”holy crap, thats wrong, even for you!” story:
i did not publish this fic--
story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
definitely my baseball fic, which i haven't finished yet. changed my characterization of eijun completely.
most unintentionally telling story:
five oceans, which i still plan to revise and post in it's final form on ao3.
hardest story to write:
my fucking hqhols, let me die. no, no, lies, it was scarlette, i have nightmares about that story, and i just started the sequel, i'm so scared and filled with the utmost trepidation.
biggest disappointment:
not finishing baseball fic. i'm so mad about it. i really wanted to get it finished in november but it just didn't happen for me.
biggest surprise:
that people actually READ my detective conan fic? it's not a really "live" fandom, tbh, and it's long and totally niche, so i'm actually shocked. i just really wanted to write it, regardless of mass interest. coming from exo fandom, i just really don't expect that large of a reading audience for anything that isn't exo-fic??? but plenty of people read my monster, and i'm so thankful, i guess.
UM, any questions?
